Pokémon Nova FAQ
Q: Is this project monetized in any way?
No, it is NOT. Any fundrising projects you see or anyone trying to make money off the game is a SCAM.
The game will be free upon release on an ad-free site, and none of their features will be paid.
We appreciate you wanting to support this game as a lot of love and care has definitely gone into it, and we are happy to see it's showing and reaching people, but we can't allow this legally.
Q: Where can I play this on?
First of all, this game is a RPG Maker project, NOT A ROMHACK.
Game has been confirmed to run on Windows platforms and JoiPlay. If your device can support or emulate a mouse or a touchscreen, like a PC or a phone, then you will be able to run the game from start to end.
Whether you can use any other emulators to run the game on Linux such as Wine, or Whiskey for MAC, we don't know!
You can't play on a 3DS nor GBA!
WE CAN ONLY OFFER SUPPORT TO USERS PLAYING ON WINDOWS.
Q: How do I update my game?
Delete your previous game folder (everything but the screenshots, if you want to to keep them) and just download the game again. Your save files will carry over automatically as they're stored somewhere else in your PC.
Q: F1 doesn't change controls anymore? F12 is broken?
You can change your controls in Settings. F12 is indeed broken. Please use F7 if you want to soft-reset the game -it does essentially the same
Q: Some minigames are playing extremely fast!!
There's a very rare chance that if you're using a very good monitor, the fps of some minigames will go off the charts. Please follow these instructions if that happens:
Open the mkxp.json file which is found inside the main folder game with any text editor, then:
Set "syncToRefreshrate" to false and uncomment the "fixedFramerate" line by deleting the two "//" right before it. Remove the comma at the end, too.
Q: Can I play using a controller?
Yes, any controllers will do! Plus, visual input support has been confirmed depending on what you use to play. You will see exactly which buttons you need to press for keyboard users, Xbox controllers especifically (because we at the dev team use those) and playstation controllers!
Q: How many Pokémon will be available in the game? I'm [Pokémon]'s number one fan, and I must get it in the game!
All 1025 Pokémon are available to get in Nova. You will also get a cute diploma ingame if you feel like catching them all!
Q: Is there any sort of multiplayer feature?
No
Q: Are there megas in this game?
Yes! All of them, up to Legends-ZA DLC. Mega Pokémon without confirmed abilities will use the ones from their normal form, as we're keeping everything as vanilla as possible.
As of now, the game has abilities up to 17/06/26 Champions' update coded in. One of my friends asked me today for one of my shiny Starlys because they want a pretty contrary mega Staraptor.
Q: Can I translate this game into X language?
If there's a huge demand for it, we will release the text files needed for the game to be translated into any other language in the future.
Please don't redistribute your own translated version if you do -reach out to us so we can include it in the main game instead!
Q: Which languages are available to play? Do I have to download anything else to play in another language?
For now, English and Spanish are available. Both are included in the same download link and it's a setting in game. You don't have to download anything else.
Q: What are the shiny odds? Is any Pokémon shiny-locked?
1 in 4096. There are ways to increase these odds ingame, like the Shiny Charm, raids, etc!
The special Poipole you get as starter has an increased rate of 1 in 100! It's got a lot of custom stuff just for it, so we want everyone to try and get their own.
If any Pokémon is shiny-locked, it will be known ingame.
Q: How can I evolve my Feebas or any other Pokémon?
All info regarding evolution can be found in the Summary page of every Pokémon.
Q: How do I get X item? How do I get X Pokémon?
There are NPCs in game that provide all the information you need.
Q: Is there a speedup key?
Yes, ALT by default.
Q: How hard is this game? Can I nuzlocke this?
The game is just slightly harder than an average official game, as we've made proper built teams. It's a game that even people not very experienced with Pokémon gameplay can beat without difficulties.
The game has over 20 Rank Leaders, which are Gym Leaders in disguise. Before facing each one, you'll always be told their type specialty and the maximum level of their team, so as long as you come up with some rules as to which Pokémon to catch in the open world, you can definitely make it work!
For VGC lovers and tryhards, there's also optional 2vs2 battles with level and team size restrictions, and some "impossible" battles you can bang your head against, if you feel like it!
Q: Does this game have randomization?
It makes no sense for this game to have one. It's an open world where you can find any Pokémon anywhere.
Q: How do I run the game?
You unzip the game and look for Game.exe. If your antivirus complains, it's a false positive (Windows Defender I'm looking at you). I'ts most likely to the fact we often add a custom icon for the Game.exe so it looks pretty.
Q: Can I stream this game?
Please do!!
Q: At what time will the game be released?
The game will release on June 20th, around 13:00 - 15:00 in Spain (CEST, UTC+2).
Please do note that we're not a professional team and delays can happen!
Q: About the main characters...
You can play either as Lami (ginger hair d△rito girl) or Nari (purple hair neet). The one you don't choose will be your companion in game!
If you want to know, Lami is the canon protag and Nari is the canon companion.
Pronouns are chosen separately (she/her, he/him, they/them, and it/its are available)
(spanish jumpscare) ¡En español los pronombres pueden ser escogidos de forma separada también!
Q: Is there postgame content? Are DLCs planned?
Absolutely! Everything you can do after the main story is listed in game for you to know!
DLCs aren't planned, but we will consider adding more Pokémon in the future when gen 10 releases!
Q: What's the expected file size?
Last time I checked, the zipped game was around 250-260mb.
Q: WHY ARE YOU RELEASING THIS ON MY BIRTHDAY??
I don't know???!! Happy birthday to you!!
